2023-06-17 05:57:00

Today, Lebanon is witnessing a significant increase in the index of the risk of fire outbreak and expansion, according to the fire laboratory of the University of Balamand. The forested areas of Akkar, Batroun, Aley, Chouf, Jezzine, Marjeyoun, and Nabatiyeh, in addition to the interior areas of the Bekaa Valley, are most at risk of fires.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment requested local administrations and committees of natural reserves to take all preventive measures to limit the use of any source of fire near the forest cover, and to intensify monitoring and reporting of any source of fire to prevent the spread of the fire uncontrollably.

The ministry had launched a campaign to prevent forest fires under the title “Fire with Minus” to avoid catastrophic fires.
