Al-Marsad newspaper: Nahla Abdel-Wahab, a consultant bacteriologist, immunology and nutrition, and head of the bacteriology department at Cairo University Hospital gave her advice for a healthy Ramadan regime.

And about breakfast, she said: “It is preferable to eat dates at the beginning and a glass of water, and a spoonful of honey with lemon on it, then wait for a short time for prayer, and then start with hot soup.”

She added: After eating soup, salads and meat, the body will have started to feel full, which makes us reduce the intake of carbohydrates. In reference to weight maintenance.

She concluded: “It is also important that we use natural bee honey in the sweets that we make at home, and that we eat small pieces of them, preferably on a non-daily basis.”
