Increased screen work, hybrid forms of work – health and well-being have also long been influenced by the digitization of the working world. The Healthy Austria Fund has therefore created a BGF award on the subject of ‘Working World 4.0’. I am delighted to be able to present the award for this today

Johannes Rauch, Minister of Health

Vienna (OTS) It is undisputed that the future of work will be largely determined by ongoing digitization. “Working world 4.0” or “New work” are the buzzwords for this change. But what work will look like in the future, which professions and sectors will be particularly affected and how the structures and work processes in the company will change is the subject of research and cannot yet be foreseen in all dimensions. But one thing is already certain: “Working world 4.0” is a topic for which companies must prepare themselves in order to be “fit for the future”. “Increased screen work, hybrid forms of work – health and well-being have also long been influenced by the digitization of the working world. The Healthy Austria Fund has therefore created a BGF award on the subject of ‘Working World 4.0’. I am delighted to be able to present the award for this today‘ said Johannes Rauch, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Healthy Austria Fund (FGÖ) at today’s award ceremony in Vienna.

The BGF Prize: An award for the best of the best

In a strategic cooperation with the Austrian Network for Workplace Health Promotion (ÖNBGF), the FGÖ has developed a three-stage quality management system in the area of WHP. The BGF award is the highest award that is only given every three years. The prizes are awarded in the following categories:

  • Presentation of the regional BGF prizes
  • Presentation of the national BGF prizes
  • Award of the special price of the economy
  • Award of the special prize of the Federal Chamber of Labor
  • WHP award from the Healthy Austria Fund

This year, 1,314 companies were up for election that had received the WHP seal of approval for particularly successful WHP projects in the last three years.

BGF award in the category “Working World 4.0”

WHP can make an important contribution to preparing employees and companies for the challenges of digitization. “With the WHP award in the category ‘Working World 4.0’, the FGÖ is putting a company in front of the curtain that has successfully chosen innovative approaches or tested new (digital) WHP measures and methods in view of the new challenges. The award is intended to encourage other companies to prepare for digital change in the world of work through WHP projects,” says Klaus Ropin, head of the FGÖ, the Austrian competence and funding center for health promotion. The tax consultancy firm Jürgen Sykora from Purkersdorf (Lower Austria) received the award. The company is a prime example of how BGF makes companies crisis-proof (more) – and that this also works in small businesses. The project, funded by the FGÖ, prepared the company very well for the Covid19 situation (lockdown etc.), so that a good switch to home office was possible. An online collaboration tool helped the employees to maintain the exchange even at a distance and to simplify the sharing of appointments or documents. In the course of the project, among other things, the idea of “team spokespersons” developed in the company. These change every two weeks and ensure a good flow of communication among employees, which is essential when working in different home offices and also strengthens team spirit. Accompanying the numerous innovations, there was a tailor-made training offer to also support those employees who are less technically affine.

The projects of all companies awarded the BGF prize are described in the brochure “Workplace health promotion in Austria – Examples of good practice 2023“ described.

The Healthy Austria Fund – source of inspiration for forward-looking WHP topics

In its role as a sponsor, the FGÖ is addressing two other megatrends in the area of WHP that have an impact on health: climate protection and demographic change. Companies can apply for support and financial support for such projects up until the autumn. Austrian companies of all sizes (small, medium-sized, large) can submit entries, regardless of whether they are profit-oriented or non-profit. Businesses that have received the BGF seal of approval have priority when it comes to funding. Interested organizations are invited to find out more about the current priorities on the website:
