The German Association of Pediatricians and Adolescents confirmed that young people are more susceptible to tick bites, because of playing and having fun in gardens, parks and green spaces, in which this insect spreads during the summer.

The association stated that a tick bite may infect children with Lyme disease, a serious disease caused by the “Borrelia” bacteria, which may lead to serious health problems, such as: nerve damage, facial muscle paralysis, and heart muscle disorders. Therefore, a doctor should be consulted immediately upon suspicion of infection with “Lyme disease”, whose symptoms are redness of the sting site, which is expanding until it reaches a diameter of 20 cm, in addition to fever, joint pain, muscle pain, conjunctivitis, digestive problems, headache and general weakness. The German Association indicated that “Lyme disease” is treated with antibiotics.
