PUBG Update Adds New Crafting System

PUBG: Battlegrounds now has a new crafting system for players to use, though it’s probably not the kind of crafting system you might have anticipated. This one deals with cosmetics only and allows players to piece together skins using different materials similarly added in the 18.2 update. Unfortunately, this system also adds more chests and resources to scour to use it, so be prepared to work on those to use the new crafting feature.

Nicknamed “the workshop” by the PUBG team, this system consists of two different options: regular crafting and special crafting. You’ll need a Hunter’s Chest or a Librarian’s Chest to use the Workshop which is naturally purchased through the in-game store, and to open them you’ll need a Key which can also be purchased through the shop or obtained by putting together three key fragments.

Footprints, Bonds, and Credits make up the contents of these chests when using the normal crafting system, while Craftsman Tokens are used in special crafting. The draw of all of this is that you can craft items that were previously in the store, Survivor Passes, or esports items that could no longer be obtained through normal conventions. Special crafting, by comparison, allows players to craft new cosmetics, and if you don’t want any of the resources or parts you’ve acquired, you can break them down to reuse and hopefully get something. that you want.

Honestly, it sounds a bit complicated, but most crafting systems of this type are complicated until you get to them and start working on their different parts. The randomness of chest contents won’t excite those who already feel they have enough cosmetics to sift through, but for those who are constantly looking to add to your collection, it gives you a way to push past the things you might to have missed.

The video above provides more context on the new crafting system, as does the patch notes found here. PUBG The new workshop is now live on the PC platform and will launch later on consoles when the 18.2 update arrives there later this month.
