Putin criticized the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland

Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the global peace summit on Ukraine, which is scheduled to be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland with the participation of Western leaders and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Moscow is ready for negotiations on Ukraine, but only on its own terms, Putin said at a meeting with the ruler of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday, April 11. “We are not invited, but they say that we refuse. But once again I want to emphasize that we are in favor, but not in the format of imposing on us any schemes that have nothing to do with reality,” the Russian quotes President of the Interfax agency.

The global peace summit in Switzerland will take place in the same format as the four previous conferences on a peace settlement in Ukraine, which were held in Denmark, Saudi Arabia and Malta in 2023, as well as on January 14, 2024 in Davos. There will be no representatives of Moscow at it, since, according to Vladimir Zelensky, “it is necessary that they do not block anything.” In turn, the Russian Embassy in Switzerland stated that the Russian side “even if it receives an invitation to such an event, will not accept it.”

“Formula of Peace” by Vladimir Zelensky

One of the topics of discussion in Switzerland will be the so-called “peace formula” proposed by Vladimir Zelensky. This plan contains ten points, including the withdrawal of Russian troops from the entire territory of Ukraine, the punishment of Russian war criminals, the payment of reparations by Russia to Ukraine and the provision of international security guarantees to Kyiv . Moscow insists on maintaining control over the occupied territories, as well as on Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO and its complete “demilitarization.”

In a conversation with Lukashenko, Vladimir Putin also said that the recent Russian attacks on energy facilities in Ukraine are part of the “demilitarization” process, since these facilities directly affect the work of the country’s military-industrial complex. Putin added that attacks on energy facilities are supposedly a forced mirror measure to similar attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and previously the Russian army, according to the head of the Kremlin, did not resort to them for “humanitarian reasons.”
