Doha: After the World Cup, Qatar has expressed its willingness to host the Asia Cup next year. South Korea, Australia and Indonesia have also expressed interest in hosting the tournament. Next year, Asia Cup football was supposed to be held in China in the months of June and July. But after China withdrew due to the spread of Covid, the Asian Football Confederation started trying to find new hosts.
The new hosts will be decided on October 17. Applications will be accepted till August 31. Currently, apart from Qatar, South Korea, Australia and Indonesia have expressed interest in hosting the Asia Cup. Qatar hosted the Asia Cup in 1988 and 2011. With the infrastructure and stadiums ready for World Cup football, Qatar can easily host the tournament if given the chance. India has also qualified for the Asia Cup.
