Rape case; Pop singer jailed for 13 years

A court in Beijing sentenced Canadian-Chinese pop singer Chris Wu to 13 years in prison in a rape case. The case alleges that Chris Wu sexually assaulted three drunken women at his home from November to December 2020. The Chayong District People’s Court itself has officially informed about the incident through social media.

Chris was arrested in July last year in Beijing. The arrest came after a student accused Chris of trying to molest him and other girls. The student also revealed to the media that after drinking alcohol, Chris forced him to have sex. With this, Chris’s cover was shattered. Chris has also become the most prominent person in the country to be jailed following sexual assault allegations.

Chris Wu was known as Wu Yifan in China. Born in China and raised in Canada, Chris Wu rose to prominence with the Korean pop band EXO. He has millions of followers on social media. Chris Wu was also an ambassador for international brands.
