He is followed by almost 4 million people on Instagram and 2 and a half million on TikTok, but he confesses to Somos that he establishes clear limits with the content he produces and does not let himself be carried away only by trends. “I take great care of what I put on, and I don’t need to be connected 24/7 either. “I prefer to share real things, not be ‘aesthetic’ all the time if deep down I know that’s not real,” she says.

Ambassador of brands such as Carolina Herrera, Ricadonna and Nissan, the driver stands out as one of the most versatile Peruvians of the last decade, adding to her responsibilities the commitment to the company she leads with her sister, V Studio (in the field of beauty), and, of course, the vocation that nourishes her the most: being a mother. How does she balance everything at 32 years old and what are her keys to not stop stepping on the ground despite her praise? Natalie Vértiz lets us see the most natural side of her in this interview.

There are thousands of photos of you, in all your versions. How do you evaluate your evolution over time? What do you think when you look back?

Phew. So many things. When she was little, she was super indecisive. Insecure. But, thank God, my mom always made an effort to feed my self-love. At school, for example, it was a bit difficult to find myself and feel good about myself. As a teenager, I started to feel insecure because she was taller than all the kids in my class.

How did you manage to turn those thoughts around?

At that time, I didn’t like my size. I accept it. But then, with the support of my mother, my family, I began to embrace all these things that I considered “defects.” I thought, I’m tall, what can I do with that? I wasn’t doing so well in sports, so I looked into other worlds. That’s how I got into modeling, and I realized that there were many dreams to pursue in that path.

Do you think that this perception of yourself as a child, regarding your height, is revived by the comments you receive about your size difference with Yaco?

It may seem like a lie to you, but I think that since I became a mother all my insecurities have gone away. I started looking for the best version of myself to be the right example for my children. I want them to look in the mirror and accept themselves as they are. Sometimes people ask me: “Why do you wear heels if Yaco isn’t that tall?” But, the truth is, Yaco makes me feel safe, he has never told me: “Don’t wear those shoes.” He stands next to me proudly, hugs me and I love it that way.

Natalie Vértiz and Yaco Eskenazi will celebrate 9 years of marriage in 2024. “Now we are in a very beautiful stage of our marriage. I feel that we have nourished our relationship very well, and, although not everything is rosy, today “We are two different human beings who love each other very much and support each other unconditionally.” (Photo: Instagram @msperu)

Many people may believe that building your success has been easy, a matter of luck. Who do you give that credit to?

I cannot deny that life offered me good opportunities. But here comes the next thing: how do you take them and what do you do with it? I believe that the evolution I have had over time is also thanks to my discipline and responsibility. Although I don’t share it on networks, because I don’t see it as necessary, I have taken all the courses you can imagine to shape my skills, be prepared to be a host, generate my own opinions and lose the fear of speaking to the public. I think one of the stages that made me grow the most as a woman was becoming a mother at 22 years old. It was a total transformation.

Liam arrived when you were very young, your relationship with Yaco Eskenazi had only started a few months. Do you think choosing to give birth in a televised birth added more pressure to that moment?

If you ask me if I would have done the same with Leo, I would say no way. At that time she was more childish, more naive. She is not the woman I am today. Now I take more care of everything I expose and the energy my family is exposed to. However, I don’t regret doing it with Liam. I think that, at that moment, televising the birth instead of putting pressure on myself made me feel supported, accompanied. Maybe if I waited for my baby alone at home, my pregnancy would have been different. At that moment, that was the affection I needed.

More than 3 million people follow you on social networks. That, without sharing so in-depth—as perhaps you did before—about your personal life. What do you think is your differential for people to follow you?

I have learned to measure myself with exposure. Before I shared everything, now I take great care of everything I share about my children, because there are many dangers. Furthermore, I prefer that they decide later whether or not they want to appear on my networks. I don’t want to harass them or profit from them. I think people notice that, and they follow me because in addition to being Natalie a mom, I am also Natalie a woman. I use my social networks for that, to grow with my things, to connect genuinely without needing to bombard people with a thousand ‘stories’ a day.

The driver had her first child, Liam, at 22 years old. At that time, she decided to televise the birth with her husband Yaco Eskenazi. Seven and a half years later, she would become Leo’s mother, in a more private context. “I don’t regret anything,” she defends. (Photo: Natalie Vértiz personal archive)

Beauty is your forte. Along these lines, getting older is one of the prejudices that still affects many women in the industry. Are you afraid of getting old?

I’m not going to lie to you. I’m super vain. But wrinkles are inevitable. I know that it is something that, at some point, will come. What I do right now is take good care of myself and be disciplined, so that the future continues to look healthy. Also, I see my mom so regal that she doesn’t scare me. [risas ]. The wrinkles, finally, will be a sign of everything I have smiled at, the experiences of my life, and I think that is very nice.

2023 was a great year for you. You traveled with many brands, attended red carpets and starred in top campaigns. Do you think it was your great moment of consolidation?

It was incredible and I really appreciate the trust they put in me. I think people know my content and find it very natural, that’s why we connect so well. I don’t like to pigeonhole myself with some type of content, I share what I like and really use, being true to my style. I think when that is sacrificed, the content stops being real, and people realize that.

On networks, young and old people follow you. But you also reach another audience with television. How do you communicate with different audiences? Is there pressure on it?

I don’t like to pigeonhole myself. It makes me happy to be able to have so much diversity in my arrival. Girls from the age of 14 have been writing to me asking for advice. On the street, ladies recognize me on TV, and I feel grateful. My mom, from a young age, taught me that you should always make everyone feel welcome at your table. And not just in the literal sense, but in what you create, in the conversations you have. That’s what I want, to feel that everyone can be part of it, without stereotypes or molds.

Vértiz chose the beaches of Máncora for the photographic production of her bikini collection with AGUAVIVA, by designer Alejandra Prialé. “I have very talented friends. I have always admired Alejandra’s career, and in fact I fondly remember that when she released her first collection I was her model,” she says. (Photo: Erez Sabag)

This growth on the professional side is also something you have experienced personally. What differences do you find between your 22-year-old self and adult Natalie? [32]?

Now, I take more into account the fact that no one is eternal. I see life differently, I enjoy time with my mother more, with what she makes her happy. That is something that I try to convey to my sister Camila, who is the youngest. Life goes too fast, we are all passengers and youth is not forever. Sometimes I get very introspective, and when they listen to me and tell me: “Hey, don’t go too far, they’re still 32”; But in truth, now more than ever I like to be very present in every moment I live, in time with my children, my mother, my sisters and my husband. //
