Red Bull F1 motorsport advisor Helmut Marko and Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 team principal Franz Tost have flatly denied speculation linking Pierre Gasly to a vacancy at the Alpine F1 team in 2023.
McLaren is likely to wrest Oscar Piastri from the Alpine F1 team, and some believe the perfect ‘plan B’ for the Renault-owned team would be an all-French line-up of Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon. .
Pierre Gasly, 26, has a solid contract with Red Bull until the end of 2023. Gasly, who had been eager to move to Red Bull Racing, has not hidden his disappointment at staying with his second team, Scuderia AlphaTauri, in 2023.
Pierre Gasly’s next destination has long been rumored to be French team Alpine F1 Team.
“There is no exit clause for Gasly,” Helmut Marko told Sport1 of the speculation.
“There are no clauses before summer vacation, and there are no clauses after summer vacation.”
Meanwhile, Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 team principal Franz Tost is ready to hit the compensation the Alpine F1 team is seeking from Oscar Piastri’s camp to buy Pierre Gasly’s Red Bull deal. He disregarded the proposal.
“It makes no sense for Red Bull to let Pierre go,” said Franz Tost.
“If a Red Bull driver fails, no other driver can step in. Only Gasly can do that,” added Franz Tost.
Franz Tost also said Scuderia AlphaTauri is very happy with Pierre Gasly as number one driver.
“Pierre is very talented,” said Franz Tost.
“He thinks everything carefully and is very focused. With the right car, he can lead. That’s our job now.”
