Region Halland is forced to break the rent freeze

The region introduced a hiring freeze for nurses last fall, with the exception of vacancies on evenings and weekends. Now it departs from the stop and takes in rental personnel again.

– We lack half the number of nurses to be able to maintain the care department capacity we need, says hospital manager Carolina Samuelsson to P4 Halland.

According to Carolina Samuelsson, there is also a staffing shortage in other parts of the hospital. The region has now decided to allow certain controlled departures from the stop. The hospital director nevertheless highlights the need to continue to limit the use of temporary staff.

– If the alternative is not being able to provide urgently needed care, then the money is not the important thing. But in the long term, the dependency on hired staff is a scourge.
