The West, closely watching the French presidential election, expressed relief over the success of President Emmanuel Macron’s second term.
The White House said US President Joe Biden had a phone call with French President Macron to congratulate him on his re-election and to discuss international issues, including the Ukraine crisis.
Earlier, in a meeting with reporters, President Biden expressed his joy over the success of President Macron’s second term.
“I feel good about the results of the French presidential election. I was going to talk to him[Macron]last night.”
In the West, Macron’s rival, Marine Le Pen, has been watching with mixed eyes.
This is because Le Pen is pro-Russian, and there was a sense of crisis that if the European Union EU and NATO were elected president of France, which has a lot of influence, there was a sense of urgency that the united power of the West against Russia could collapse.
Candidate Le Pen made a promise to reduce France’s role in NATO and promote a ‘strategic reconciliation’ with Russia after the war in Ukraine is over.
