Prime Minister’s New Unity Party Leads in Latvian Parliamentary Elections

The party of the current Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjanis Karins “New Unity” receives 18.39% after counting more than 88% of the votes. However, the rest of the voting leaders in the current convocation are not included in the government coalition. The current largest opposition party, Harmony, has not yet overcome the five percent threshold required to enter the Seimas.

Voting Leaders:

  • “New Unity” – 18.39%;
  • Union of Greens and Peasants – 13.29%;
  • “Joint List” – 11.27%;
  • National Association – 9.28%;
  • “For stability!” – 6.76%.

The Sejm consists of 100 deputies. More than 1.5 million people have the right to vote. More than 1,800 candidates are running for parliament on 19 party lists.
