After the event, which happened at the couple’s residence, located in the Meriño project sector of Monte Plata, the perpetrator decided to commit suicide.
This is the retired captain described as John Mendez Batista and his wife Marileidy Reyes Lara, 27 years old.
According to preliminary information, after shooting his partner, Batista told a neighbor that “inadvertently” he had killed the “woman of his life”; and asked him to go see the event; action that he did not perform for fear of being hit in the same way.
According to those present, the captain tried to communicate via cell phone with a family member and without obtaining results, he resorted to taking his own life.
