Tomatoes, eggs and pears topped the top ten most expensive products in Russia in 2023. Rosstat reports this.
“Eggs rose in price by 61.4%, tomatoes by 51.1%, and pears by 48.3%,” RIA Novosti reports the result of an analysis of Rosstat data. Bananas and grapes also made it into the top five commodities with high price increases. Their prices increased in the range from 45% to 50%. Oranges closed the top of the most expensive goods.
Egg prices in the country grew up due to increased demand from the population, however, no changes in production volume were observed. Russian President Vladimir Putin notedthat the level of income of Russian citizens has increased, which is why people began to consume more eggs and chicken meat.
