With just days to go before the start of the Test against England, Kovid-19 has been confirmed positive for Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has posted the official release information (rohit sharma tests positive for covid 19 in england).
“# Team India captain Mr Rohit Sharma has confirmed positive for COVID-19 after a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the Team Hotel and under the care of the BCCI Medical Team, ”the BCCI tweeted.
Rohit Sharma was part of the squad for the four-day tour of Leicestershire ahead of the crucial Test against England, which starts in Edgbaston, Birmingham on July 1. Rohit, who batted in the first innings on Thursday, did not bat in the second innings. He scored 25 in the first innings of the warm-up match.

India lead 2-1 in Test series against England India won the Test series 2-0 against Sri Lanka this year under Rohit Sharma. If he recovers in time from the match in Edgbaston, it will be his first Test as captain of the team on foreign soil.
India, led by Virat Kohli, had a 2-1 lead against England last year but had to cancel the fifth and final Test after Kovid’s outburst in the Indian camp. The BCCI and the ECB have decided to reschedule the remaining Test matches this year. Apart from Tests, India will play three T20s and three ODIs in the tour.
