Russia Today: Germany calls on its citizens to stock up on food and medicine in anticipation of an emergency

Russia Today reported that the German Interior Minister called on citizens to stockpile food and medicine in anticipation of an emergency, noting that this is related to the situation in Ukraine.

In an interview with the German newspaper “Handelsblatt”, the Minister of the Interior said: “In the event of a prolonged power outage, or restrictions are imposed that change the normal course of life, it would be wise to have a reserve of foodstuffs at home.”

The minister advised the Germans to pay attention to the ministry’s publications to protect the population, noting that the precautionary list includes a food package for emergency cases intended for the consumption of one person for a period of ten days.

The list includes, in particular, 20 liters of water, 3.5 kg of cereals, bread, pasta, rice and potatoes, four kg of vegetables and legumes, 2.5 kg of fruits and nuts, and 2.6 liters of milk and dairy products.

In addition, for ten days, it is recommended to stock up on 1.5 kg of meat, fish, eggs or egg powder, and 357 grams of fats and oils, as well as other products of personal choice, such as sweets.

It is reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that the European Union will stop importing Russian coal this summer, and will get rid of Russian oil by the end of 2022.

In an interview with the Indian newspaper, “Indian Express”, which was broadcast on its website, Schulz said that the European Union will stop importing Russian coal during the summer and will get rid of Russian oil by the end of 2022. He explained that the European bloc, along with its transatlantic partners, has adopted “Unprecedented sanctions against the Russian Federation,” he noted, adding that “many countries have joined these sanctions, even if this necessarily means economic costs to us.”

He added, “Moreover, we are now implementing a very ambitious policy to reduce our dependence on importing fossil fuels from Russia. We will stop importing Russian coal this summer, we will phase out Russian oil until the end of the year and we will cut gas.”
