The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has decided to cancel the military parade on May 9 in Sevastopol. This was announced on April 20 by the governor of the city Mikhail Razvozhaev, writes RIA Novosti. Note that such a decision was made for the first time in the history of the Russian Federation. Previously, the Victory Parade was only postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, when it took place on June 24.

According to Razvozhaev, information about the decision of the Ministry of Defense came from the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, clarifies TASS.

Earlier, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said that the May Day holiday demonstrations, the Immortal Regiment processions and the May 9 parade were canceled on the peninsula for security reasons. Sevastopol is a city of federal significance, in which the holding of the parade is appointed by decree of the Minister of Defense.

Also, the parade and other festive mass events dedicated to Victory Day were abandoned in a number of regions. We are talking about the Kursk, Belgorod regions and six other border regions of the Russian Federation.
