It was during a conference called “Samsung Unpacked” that the Korean manufacturer unveiled the new versions of its foldable smartphones, and in particular the telephone foldable clamshell Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 on August 11. Relatively modern and easy to transport (183 grams for the weight and 72.2 x 86.4 x 17.1 mm for the size), the new model is announced as more robust. The IPX8 certification guarantees its waterproofness, but that’s not all. The Z Flip 3 features Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and back, added to a reinforced aluminum frame and hinge. The internal screen has a protective plastic film making it 80% more resistant. The screen size is 1.9 inches compared to 1.1 inches for the previous generation. The camera is made up of two 12-megapixel sensors on the back (wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle) and a 10-megapixel sensor in the bubble of the internal screen.
Although Samsung revealed many things to us during its “Unpacked” conference on August 11, one question remained unanswered: the release date of certain products, such as the Galaxy Z Flip 3. If different indices and indications of retailers pointed for a window around the end of August, we had to wait a few short days to be completely fixed.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 has therefore been available since August 27, 2021. While it can obviously be found on the brand’s official store, it is also possible to obtain it from a reseller or specialized store. The first foldable smartphone from Samsung was released in February 2020 at a high price: 1500 euros. The Z Flip 3 is worth 1059 euros for the version with 128 GB of storage and 1109 euros for the one with 256 GB of storage. A price that still places the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 among very high-end smartphones (see premium), while remaining a little more affordable than its elder released last year.

The first available photos of the flip smartphone from Samsung were already lying around on the web a few weeks before its release. Several insiders and professional leakers have visuals that seem quite believable. There were several similarities with the previous Galaxy Z Flip, but a new photo sensor integrated under the slab of the smartphone, as well as a larger screen than the previous one on the back of the device.
For the rest, we still find the double photo sensor on the back of the device, located next to said external screen which will always be used to display the time and notifications. The ignition and volume buttons are always located on the right side of the device, which is available in 3 different colors: black, purple and gold.
Technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is available in two different versions in terms of its storage space: 128 and 256 GB. The foldable smartphone, however, only has one RAM level version, namely 8 GB. Unlike its counterpart, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3the Flip is not compatible with the use of the S-Pen stylus from Samsung.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has the same processor as its counterpart, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip. The latter is still very efficient and allows you to run all the games and applications in very good quality. The Flip 3 therefore stands out as a phone of choice for gamers.
The Korean manufacturer first focused on its official store for pre-orders. The latter even had small bonuses for those who would like to reserve their copy of the telephone. Other brands such as Fnac or Darty also offer the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 in its 128 GB and 256 GB versions.
