SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (AP) — Phones could get even smarter this year as the new wave of artificial intelligence (AI) seeps into devices that accompany users virtually wherever they go.
Samsung, the main rival of Apple and its iPhone, offered a glimpse of how its devices are evolving during the presentation, the day before yesterday, of the next generation of Galaxy devices, its flagship models.
The sales pitch for the new Galaxy S24 cell phones revolves around a series of new tools powered by AI.
“We will reconfigure the technological landscape, we will begin a new chapter without barriers to unleash its potential,” declared TM Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile experience division, before a crowd gathered in an arena in San Jose, California, that is usually used for hockey games and concerts.
In addition to containing some of Samsung’s own work with AI, the upcoming Galaxy S24 models will be equipped with some of the latest advancements released by Google.
The technological improvements will lead to a higher price for Samsung’s high-end phone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra: $1,300, which represents an increase of $100, or 8%, compared to a similar model from last year.
The increase is similar to what Apple did with its most luxurious model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, launched in September. Samsung will maintain prices for the Galaxy S24 Plus, which will sell for $1,000, and the basic Galaxy S24, which starts at $800.
All of the new Galaxy phones, which will be available in stores on Wednesday the 31st, will come equipped with much more AI than the previous ones, including a tool that will provide live translation during calls in 13 languages and 17 dialects.
The Galaxy S24 units will also introduce Google’s “Circle To Search,” which involves using an optical pen or your finger to circle parts of text, photos or videos to get instant search results for what you are looking for. frame.
