Samsung Galaxy S26: AI-Powered Productivity & Privacy Features Revealed

Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy S26 series, pitching the new range as a productivity tool designed for professionals who rely on a single device for work, travel, and daily tasks. The company is emphasizing the S26’s advancements in both hardware and artificial intelligence, with a focus on streamlining everyday phone use rather than introducing superfluous features.

Annika Bizon, UK vice president of product and marketing at Samsung, described the launch as a significant step forward. “The amount of admin and time it will take for a professional out of their lives, so they can get on and do the things they require to do, that’s the bit I’m super excited about,” Bizon told City A.M. The company is responding to a growing expectation that smartphones provide more than just communication tools, functioning as wallets, cameras, travel planners, and primary work devices for hybrid workers and small business owners.

Three key features underpin Samsung’s pitch: a new privacy screen, expanded AI capabilities, and camera improvements. Samsung claims the S26 series represents its thinnest and lightest flagship devices to date. Still, a crucial question remains whether consumers will see sufficient value in upgrading, particularly in a market where device lifecycles are lengthening.

Bizon positioned the S26 as a personal assistant. “I get up in the morning, first of all, it’s sitting there giving me a complete breakdown of what my diary looks like for the day,” she explained. “But not only that, it’s saying to me, ‘Do you know what, Annika, you’ve got to depart now because you’ve got a meeting at 9:00 and the traffic looks like this.’” She further illustrated the device’s capabilities with an example of its contextual AI. “My friend texts me to say ‘Are we meeting for lunch?’” she said. “At that point, agentic AI will look at my diary and go, ‘Do you know what, Annika, you probably need to book an Uber.’”

Bizon emphasized the collaborative nature of the phone’s functionality. “It’s kind of working with my life instead of me sort of jostling,” she added.

A central element of the launch is Samsung’s new privacy display setting, which the company touts as a key differentiator. The feature allows users to restrict visibility from side angles, either across the entire display or on specific applications. “I’m on the tube and the person beside me is shoulder-surfing me and I’m looking at it going, ‘Hang on a second, I’m looking at some private documents,’” Bizon said. “With the privacy screen, I can see it, the person beside me can’t.”

Samsung is also focusing on long-term ownership and customer reassurance. Bizon stated that customers increasingly desire confidence that purchasing a premium phone is not merely a short-term expense. “We want to offer consumers confidence in the fact that when they buy into Samsung, they’re on a journey with us,” she added. The newly introduced Galaxy Club offers buyers value back upon upgrading within a specified timeframe, alongside product care and protection. This initiative aims to make upgrading feel less like a subscription and more like a considered investment, particularly given the high price point of flagship devices.

While consumers are generally holding onto phones for longer periods, those investing in premium models still expect the latest features when the cost-benefit analysis is favorable. Bizon said Samsung’s objective is to simplify the upgrade process and make it “as affordable for them” as possible.

Recent reports indicate Samsung is also actively pursuing partnerships with major AI companies, signaling a broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence across its product ecosystem. TechRadar reported on a display controversy surrounding the S26 Ultra, which Samsung has since addressed.

Alongside the S26 series, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds4 series, further expanding its ecosystem of connected devices. Samsung Global Newsroom announced the launch of the new earbuds.
