Samsung launches update for Galaxy S10, S10e and S10+, even after end of support

O Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10+ are receiving a new update. In fact, the new feature is currently only available for users in Mexico through the network of a Mexican telephone operator. For now, we do not have any information about the arrival of this update in other regions of the world, as the three devices are no longer supported by Samsung.

What do you need to know:

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ received an unexpected update even after Samsung’s support ended. The update is only available on the Telcel network in Mexico and carries the September 2023 patch. It is unlikely that other regions will receive the update as Samsung has already ended support for these models.

Update may not extend to all regions

According to Sammobile, the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ are receiving a new update on the Telcel network in Mexico. To everyone’s surprise, the update brings the latest September 2023 patch and has the firmware version HWI1. It remains to be seen whether the update will be extended to other regions as well.

The chances of other regions receiving the new update are unlikely. As we mentioned, Samsung has already ended support for the Galaxy S10. And the other two models, the Galaxy S10e and S10+, were also removed from the support list in April 2023. It’s possible that Telcel in Mexico is just being generous and offering an additional upgrade to its customers. Or perhaps Samsung detected a serious vulnerability and decided to release a fix, which is not uncommon.

While the three aforementioned Samsung phone models will no longer receive updates, there is one model in the Galaxy S10 series that will continue to receive updates until 2024: the Galaxy S10 Lite. And this doesn’t happen because Samsung has a special affection for the device, but because it was launched a year after the four original Galaxy S10 devices.
