According Sarah Fergusonthe Queen Elizabeth II endorsed her career as a historical novelist. She even claims that the late monarch had been a source of inspiration for her fictional characters.
The Duchess of York was attending the Henley Literary Festival in Henley-on-Thames in the UK this week, where she was interviewed about her newfound passion for writing. During this conversation, she revealed that she had taken up writing with the Queen’s full blessing, reports The Telegraph. Sarah Ferguson told the audience that his late mother-in-law was a “wonderful friend” and “the greatest icon ever”, calling her “legendary” and “incredible” before adding that the two corgis she inherited of her after her death last month are “well-behaved national treasures”.
The former wife of prince Andrew explained that she gave Queen Elizabeth II copies of her novel, Her Heart for a Compassreleased in 2021. “All my life I have known the chef and there is no one like her,” Sarah Ferguson told the festival crowd. « I wouldn’t do anything if she hadn’t given me her blessing and I still think about it today. The Duchess went on to call herself “the luckiest person in the world, without a doubt” to have had the opportunity to know the Queen and to have had her in her life.
A royal inspiration
When asked if there were any real-life women who had particularly served as inspiration for her literary characters, she added, “There’s no doubt about it, mine is my beauty. -mother […] When we wrote the book, I gave it to the chief and said, “You don’t have to read it.” But I think she was extremely proud that we did. […] I gave him a copy in French too. On the other hand, when I went to Italy, she said to me: “Don’t give it to me in Italian because I don’t read Italian”, but she read French. »
The Duchess of York also spoke of recent funeralexplaining that she was “taped” during the Vigil of princes in the presence of the Queen’s grandchildren and that she silently sent positive thoughts to them, hoping that no one would fall. The eight grandchildren of Elizabeth II chose to honor her memory by paying tribute to her with the first vigil of its kind in British history, led by the prince William and his brother, the prince Harry. “They were so brave.
