Now it’s official: Alessandra Todde is the Governor of Sardinia. The proclamation of those elected, with the minutes of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari arriving 24 days after the elections, certifies the gap of 3,061 votes between the centre-left candidate with the Campo largo experiment and the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu at the center-right leadership. Alessandra Todde obtained 334,160 preferences against the 331,099 of the second, confirming the gap announced a few days ago.

The numbers in the Council

The centre-left majority will have 36 elected representatives (including the president) against the 24 (including Paolo Truzzu) of the opposition. The first party in the majority will be the Democratic Party with 11 representatives, followed by the 5 Stars with 7 elected representatives (which become eight with the president).

The handover

«It will be important to make a good handover with the offices of the Region to immediately deal with the most urgent things – says the new president of the Region immediately after the proclamation – and obviously work in the next few days to form a team that can live up to expectations ». Precisely in order to speed up the process, discussions began a few days ago with the political forces of the coalition for the formation of the executive.

The arrangements

The government framework with the assignment of delegations for the 12 departments that make up the regional executive now needs to be defined. In the framework of the balances and the tasks to be assigned there is already a first hypothesis. Three departments and the presidency of the regional council should go to the Democratic Party. The 5 Star Movement has two departments, while the other political forces have one department each by virtue of the division that assigns one department for every three elected regional councilors. A department should also go to the “Alessandra Todde President” list.
