Scorn: no photo mode, lifespan… Ebb Software gives new details | Xbox One

In a new edition of his developer diaryEbb Software tells us more about Scornhis next game and Xbox console exclusive coming October 21st.

A rather short experience

Among all the information given by the developers, the one concerning the lifespan should attract the most attention from the players. It would therefore take between six and eight hours to overcome the proposed nightmarish world. It will depend on the skill of the players to progress through the puzzles to be solved through the different levels of the game.

When asked if the project can be qualified as AAA, Ebb Software wants to be clear: it is not. The studio makes it clear that this is an independent game.

Although we started with only four people and a very small budget, we have since grown into what can be considered an AA project.

An artbook and the OST will accompany the release of the game

Available in digital version at least on Steam and Epic Games Store, the game’s artbook and OST will also be produced in a physical version. Ebb Software specifies that the physical version of the artbook (192 pages) is currently on pre-order on Amazon with delivery scheduled from December.

Regarding the OST, which we owe to Aethek and Lustmord, the studio is in the process of producing a vinyl edition which will be intended primarily for those who have supported the game via the Kickstarter campaign. However, options are being explored to make vinyl accessible to everyone later.

Immersion will be there, but not the photo mode

Regarding the content, we also learn that no photo mode will be offered. But well aware that many players will want to capture the scenery crossed during the adventure, it is specified that the HUD will be minimal. If it was designed with immersion in mind, it should allow players to use the screenshot functions easily.

For more content and information on the game which will be released on October 21, 2022 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, the appointment is given in September after Gamescom. In the meantime, you can find an extract from the OST of the game to get an idea of its musical atmosphere. The title will be available upon release in the Xbox Game Passthe PC Game Pass and the Xbox Cloud Gaming.
