Scottish Acrophobia BMX rider performs difficult tricks over 2,000 feet off the ground

[Sports News]BMX cyclist and Red Bull athlete Kriss Kyle on Thursday (13th) atRed Bull Bike YouTubePost your latest BMX video. The Scottish cyclist rode a BMX bike and performed BMX tricks on a bowl-shaped BMX track designed by Red Bull Racing Group’s High Performance Engineering department, suspended under a hot air balloon, more than 2,000 feet above the ground.

Kriss Kyle dreams of performing BMX tricks where no one has ever been before, so she hopes to inspire the younger generation to join the BMX sport. To realize his dream, he teamed up with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the technical arm of Oracle’s Red Bull Formula 1 team, who designed the BMX bowl court. Drawing on world-leading aerodynamics, simulation and modeling expertise, the velodrome is made from the same composite materials as Formula 1 cars. Renowned hot-air balloon maker Cameron Balloons also joined the team, designing and building the hot-air balloons used for the pioneering work. The hot air balloon is six times larger than a standard hot air balloon in order to lift the 1.7-ton BMX bowl into the sky.

The biggest challenge of this venture is the size and swing of the BMX bowls in the air. Kriss Kyle uses his own unique riding style, quick thinking and years of experience to maneuver small spaces. To ensure safety, Kriss Kyle wore a parachute to ride on the edge of the bowl-shaped cycling track more than 2,000 feet above the ground.

Kriss Kyle said: “I’ve dreamed of doing this challenge for a long time, but my fear of heights has always weighed on me. I’ve overcome my fear many times in previous Red Bull projects, but nothing comparable to this one. I had to climb Flying over the basket of a hot air balloon to reach the bowl-shaped velodrome below is a crazy experience. I could not have done it without the help and encouragement of my friends. At more than 2,000 feet in the air, it is almost as high as You don’t feel real anymore.”

Despite Kriss Kyle’s fear of heights, this isn’t the first time he’s added aerial stunts to his challenge. In “Dubai Drop”, he jumped from a helicopter on his bicycle and landed on a skyscraper in Burj Al Arab. In “One from Copenhagen”, he paragliders on a bicycle.
