Commonly, for many future parents, it is customary to call on a birth photographer to attend the birth of their baby in order to immortalize these first memorable moments. Enough to create a beautiful souvenir album and take a look at it from time to time. What could be more moving than diving back into those intense moments when you cut the umbilical cord, where you lock eyes for the first of your child, where you breastfeed your baby? These are unique and extraordinary memories. And, of course, with a little luck, the photographer can even capture unexpected reactions or facial expressions, like a big smile or a funny face.
That day, in Rio, February 13, 2020, it was Brazilian photographer Rodrigo Kunstmann who had his moment of fame. He was then responsible for taking photos and videos of the birth of Isabela Pereira’s little one. For him, it was just another working day as reported by our colleagues from the British newspaper Standard. Like so many other births he had attended, he expected the baby’s usual tears and facial expressions. But what was his surprise when his lens immortalized an epic moment: barely out of his mother’s womb, this newborn seemed rather upset to have arrived in the world. The baby seemed to be staring intently at the doctor with a most disturbing facial expression. An angry look, some will quickly say. As if this little one was so warm in her mother’s womb that she hadn’t asked to come out and was clearly showing her displeasure!
This “angry baby” has traveled the world

It’s true that it was a crazy coincidence. By capturing this powerful and poignant photo, the photographer saw his career take off suddenly. It was unthinkable not to reveal it to the whole world. And, as expected, she caused a sensation on the web and social networks. Millions of Internet users have liked and shared this photo which will go viral across the planet.
And, as you might expect, the comments were rife. Isabela was known around the world as “the angry baby” who didn’t seem happy to be born at that time. So many people were convinced that this little girl seemed to know what awaited us.

Isabela became so popular that her parents even created an Instagram account for her called “Isa_Bravinha1” (translation “Angry Isa”). The little girl’s page has more than 9,000 followers and, of course, all her photos exude happiness. We are relieved to see that she has finally swallowed her anger and has finally adapted well to our world!
The little anecdote is that the famous photographer, Rodrigo Kunstmann, ended up finding this little girl two years later. A happy reunion where they took the time to take a few photos together. They even posed doing a variety of facial expressions, ultimately once again capturing Isabela’s now famous angry expression.
