Seema Kaliramna stated that she thought the competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games was much tougher than the 2026 Asian Games, noting that the qualification mark was higher, which meant they should definitely be in medal contention, according to her exclusive interview with India.com.
Seema identifies China’s Feng Ben as the primary obstacle in her path at the Asian Games. Reflecting on her performance in Glasgow, Seema noted that everyone around her thought that a gold or silver medal was within reach at Glasgow. Her final in Scotland wrapped up late at night local time, around 10:30 PM in India, prompting the athletics federation secretary as well as our chief coach to remark that the colour of medal could have been changed. Outside of athletics, Seema is currently pursuing PhD in Physical Education at Chaudhary Bansi Lal (CBLU) in Bhiwani, Haryana, while raising a four-year-old son. She credits her family for absorbing much of the daily pressure, noting she always studies on weekends when she is not training, even when her body is tired.
Seema said regarding her son that he usually spends most of his time with his paternal or maternal grandparents, and added that there is not much pressure when she has the full support of her family.
Following her strong performance last month at the World Athletics Silver Level Continental Tour 2026 held in Bhubaneswar—where she recorded a throw exceeding 57m—Seema Kaliramna is now preparing for the Asian Games 2026. Seema Kaliramna will be competing in an Athletics meet in Delhi on September 10, carrying her focus directly from her training straight into her final international preparations.
