Seven Korean men’s and women’s golf representatives to participate in the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou have been finalized. The Korea Golf Association announced on the 27th that “Men’s team’s Im Seong-jae, Kim Si-woo, Jang Yu-bin, and Jo Woo-young and women’s Bang Sin-sil, Kim Min-byeol and Jung Ji-hyun have been confirmed as representatives of the Hangzhou Asian Games.”
Seongjae Lim and Siwoo Kim, who are active on the PGA Tour, won the Asian Games as top men’s golf world rankings. Last year, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) changed the rules so that even professionals can participate in the Asian Games. In the world rankings on the 25th, Im Seong-jae was 19th and Kim Si-woo was 51st.
Jang Yu-bin confirmed her departure to Hangzhou by winning the top spot at the Korea Golf Association’s captain’s amateur golf championships. Jo Woo-young took first place in the amateur finals at the Hangzhou Asian Games and entered the national team.
In the women’s division, professional players refused to participate, and the national team was made up of the first to third place players in the amateur finals.
