Sergio Arboleda University Loses Its High Quality Accreditation – Education – Life

The Sergio Arboleda University lost its high quality accreditationwhich would prevent him from promoting himself as such until he regains said status, confirmed TIME.

This newspaper consulted with the Ministry of Education, entity that indicated that the university must make adjustments to meet its improvement plan and reapply for high-quality accreditation.

The foregoing means that the institution would have been stripped of the high-quality accreditation that was granted in 2019 for a period of six years. All this after a visit made by the Ministry of Education, which was announced last January, after reports of serious irregularities.

The complaint that triggered these actions was made by Leonard Espinosaformer dean of the Faculty of Law of the alma mater. He maintains that the institution would have made unjustified payments to several people, including figures related to national politics.

The lawyer’s statements mention personalities such as the Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa; the former magistrate Jorge Pretelt and the former High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos.

Other people named are Catalina Serrano and César Augusto Serrano, wife and father-in-law of former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andrés Felipe Arias. Millionaire transfers are also mentioned for the purchase of a farm from the company R y Z Guadalupe SAS, whose legal representative is the same rector of the university, Rodrigo Noguera.

At the time, the educational portfolio issued a statement in which it stated that “as a result of said visit, a technical report will be submitted, from which The Ministry of National Education will define the actions that correspond within the framework of our competenceguaranteeing due process, and with the aim of safeguarding that the public service of higher education is provided in conditions of continuity and quality.

University directors told EL TIEMPO that what was imposed on them was a preventive measure, not a sanction.

In addition, that they are already advancing in the improvement plan and that they hope that in October the compliance requirements will be met.
