Severe Storm Leaves 200,000 Without Power in Washington and Neighboring States

TAfter a series of gusts of wind and heavy rains in Washington and neighboring states, 200,000 people were left without electricity this Saturday in the United States and the metropolitan area.

The winds downed trees and power poles in Washington, Virginia and Maryland.

In northern Virginia, trees were uprooted and fell on vehicles and homes. After the storm, dozens of people took to the streets to register the damage.

Likewise, in the Arlington cemetery, where the United States buries war veterans, the fall of trees and branches was reported that this morning would be removed by personnel from the national pantheon.

The storm caused numerous lightning and thunder while the winds reached speeds of between 96 and 140 kilometers per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms came following several days in which the region recorded maximum temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius.
