Washington: More than 2600 flights have been canceled due to bad weather. Reduced operating hours for government offices in Washington, D.C.

More than 200,000 homes and businesses were destroyed in Maryland and Virginia by strong winds and lightning. Power was also out in the Atlantic states and parts of the southern United States.

According to the National Weather Service, 29.5 million people from Alabama to western New York were affected by Monday’s storm. Following the heavy rain, the Federal Aviation Administration also suspended flight services from airports like New York, Washington, Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Museums, libraries, swimming pools and zoos have also been ordered to close. The management had told the workers not to stay in the establishments after three o’clock.

More than 2,600 US flights were canceled, including 102 flights from Washington Airport. 7700 US flights were delayed due to heavy rain.
