The Sharjah Book Authority participated in the London International Book Fair 2024, which concluded recently, with a delegation representing the most prominent cultural institutions and events in the emirate.
The Sharjah Book Authority’s participation program in the exhibition, which hosts more than 1,000 exhibitors and publishers from various parts of the world every year, included introducing international publishers, bookstore owners and book industry workers to the latest developments and achievements of the emirate’s cultural project, which was launched with the vision and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, which includes the publishing industry, libraries, and creative industries related to books, in addition to providing the opportunity to communicate and exchange experiences. Several meetings were also held to attract more publishers and investors.

The Sharjah delegation at the London International Book Fair included ((Al Qasimi Publications), ((Department of Culture), ((Sharjah Publishing City), ((Sharjah Literary Agency)), and ((Translation Grant – affiliated with the Authority) Sharjah Book Prize, Kalimat Group, Children’s Book Publishers Forum, and Etisalat Children’s Book Award. Each party presented its projects, initiatives, and visions to the visitors of the exhibition, which constitutes an opportunity to introduce the status of culture and books to the world. Specifically in the Emirati civilizational project, it opens the way for building more bridges of cultural cooperation between Sharjah and the world.
During its participation, the Sharjah Book Authority reviewed the opportunities available to cultural institutions and foreign publishers to cooperate with the Sharjah Book Fair, and participate in its various activities such as ((Publishers Conference)), ((Library Conference)) and ((International Distributors Conference)), which contributed to supporting The publishing industry at the local and global levels, facilitating the buying and selling of copyrights, and stimulating the translation movement between different cultures.
Regarding participation in the London International Book Fair, Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, stressed that Sharjah constitutes an important qualitative cultural addition to human culture and global cultural projects due to its rich and ancient experience, which is based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the patronage and guidance of His Highness, it continues to accumulate achievements that prove that the cultural construction of man constitutes a guarantee for the world to achieve growth, development, progress and prosperity.
Al Ameri said: ((Under the patronage and guidance of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Book Authority, and in cooperation with cultural bodies and institutions in the emirate, we are participating this year in a busy program, through which we aim to achieve more cooperation with international cultural centers, and build more Frameworks of understanding with leaders in the book industry to support our goals of revitalizing the cultural movement, supporting publishers and translators, and emphasizing the importance of creativity and innovation in advancing the role of books in shaping the features of the future and achieving the ambitions and aspirations of societies.
