2023-02-02 23:00:00

The French meet growing difficulties in obtaining medication which are prescribed to them, both among those in common use such as amoxicillin and paracetamol and the long-term treatments which are essential to them. This situation, which compromises public health, experienced a particularly critical phase this winter due to the scale of the triple epidemic covid, influenza and bronchiolitis. In this context, the Senate created a commission of inquiry in order to shed light on the causes of these shortages and of propose concrete solutions to remedy.

Incorporated on 1is February, the commission of inquiry will also look into the drug industry business model. The vertiginous prices of certain particularly innovative treatments now raises the question of access to care for all and the ability of the health system to meet this expense.

The commission will begin its cycle ofauditions next week ; it will first hear from the institutions in charge of drug policy.
