2023-09-12 15:23:45

Ex-world No. 1, Simona Halep has been suspended for 4 years for doping, announced the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). The 31-year-old Romanian, who has the possibility of appealing, will not be able to return to competition before October 7, 2026.

Victorious of two Grand Slam titles (Roland-Garros 2018 and Wimbledon 2019), Simona Halep had been provisionally suspended since last October following testing positive for roxadustat in August 2022 during the US Open.

She was charged this spring with another separate Anti-Doping Program violation, relating to irregularities in her biological passport.
