Sisi opens huge exhibition featuring Russian fighters

Russian-made fighters and helicopters are scheduled to participate in the exhibition, which will run from September 3 to 5. The Egyptian Armed Forces had revealed the MiG-29 fighter jet and its terrifying armament during the promotional presentation for the first edition of the Egypt Air and Space Exhibition.

The fighter appeared with two short-range thermal air combat missiles, the R-73, guided by infrared rays and a pilot’s helmet, with a range of more than 30 km, and two long-range air combat missiles, the R-77SD, guided by radar, with a range of up to 120 km and a speed of 4.5 Mach.

The Egyptian army also revealed that the fighter is armed with Kh-35UE tactical missiles, which are anti-ship and anti-land targets and have a range of 260 km, are guided by a radar seeker and satellite navigation, and have a warhead weighing 145 kg.

The Egyptian Armed Forces also displayed in a promotional video the Ka-52 helicopter, nicknamed the Crocodile, which is also scheduled to participate in the exhibition.

The Russian attack helicopter, which operates with the Egyptian Air Force, appeared in the promotional video twice, as the Ka-52 helicopters, nicknamed the Crocodile, are no less technically and combat-wise than the American AH-64 Apache helicopter.

The Russian helicopter is superior to the American helicopters in terms of the quantity and variety of armament, the ability to engage air targets, the ability to lead forces or direct a group of helicopters, speed, flight range, and also crew protection, due to the ejection seats, which are not available in the Apache.

More than 100 countries and more than 300 companies and destinations from the largest aircraft manufacturers and space industries around the world are scheduled to participate in the exhibition, with the attendance of many experts in the aviation, space and defense industries from around the world.
