The Korean group SJM proceeded, Thursday in Tangier Automotive City (TAC), to the inauguration of a new industrial unit specialized in the production of modules and interior components of flexible insulation for the automotive industry. This new facility, which was inaugurated in the presence of officials from the Korean group and the Tanger Med group, is part of the group’s second phase of investment in the region. Built on an area of 4,800 m2, this site should eventually employ 250 people and will contribute to increasing the rate of local integration.
SJM FLEX’s expansion plans within the Tanger Med industrial platform include establishing in-house capabilities for high quality surface insulation systems, especially as the group is recognized as the world leader flexible decoupling solutions in the automotive industry, says a press release from the group. Its products guarantee high driving comfort, reduce system vibrations and the development of disturbing noises, while meeting the highest demands in terms of durability.
The director of SJM FLEX MOROCC, Ahmed Oulad Dfouf, indicated that the group has invested around 90 million dirhams in this new industrial unit, which will employ, in a first phase, 60 people, a number which will gradually increase by 2025. , expressing the group’s willingness to continue its investment to engage in the electric car industry in the future.
For his part, the general manager of Tanger Med Zones, Ahmed Bennis, affirmed that the Korean group made the “right decision” by investing in the industrial platform of Tanger Med, which hosts more than 1,200 companies, and offers many competitive advantages which should contribute to the development and expansion of the group at the service of its customers, throughout the world, taking advantage of its proximity to the Tangier Med port, which is connected to more than 180 world ports.
Created in 1975 in South Korea, the SJM group operates in the automotive, aeronautical and naval industries, as well as in the production of biomedical devices and electronic chips.
