(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Bae Jin-nam = Son Heung-min (30, Tottenham Hotspur) paid tribute to the deceased, regretting the sudden death of his coach, who helped him escape from the slump.

On the afternoon of the 6th (Korean time), Son Heung-min uploaded a picture of him hugging Tottenham’s physical coach, Jean Piero Ventrone, on his social networking service (SNS), and posted an article beginning with “The world has lost a really special person.”

Son Heung-min said, “Jean Pierrot, you helped me through the most difficult times, and we had amazing memories together. I will miss this so much.”

“Thank you for everything,” he added. “I send all my love to you and your family.”

Tottenham Hotspur announced the death of coach Ventrone on the same day.

The club did not disclose the cause, but local media reported that the cause of death was leukemia.

Coach Ventrone joined Tottenham in November last year as part of coach Antonio Conte, who took over the helm.

Previously, he played at Juventus, Catania (Italy), Jiangsu Suning, Guangzhou Hengda (China) and Ajaccio (France). He coached the Italian national team, where he also played in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Coach Bentrone gained a reputation among Tottenham players for his intensive physical training.

When Tottenham went to Korea on a pre-season tour in July, coach Ventrone accompanied the squad and performed ‘Hell Training’.

His relationship with Son Heung-min was also special.

Heung-Min Son scored his first goal of the season and a hat-trick in the match against Leicester City last month, breaking the goal silence.

After the game, Son Heung-min said, “Coach Ventrone, who has the wisdom of life, is a person who gives me a lot of good advice.”
