SpaceX has launched commercial Starlink satellite internet orders in Vietnam, offering residential plans starting at 1.13 million dong per month. Licensed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the service operates under a trial framework capped at 600,000 subscribers through 2030.
Residential customers across Vietnam can now place deposits for home service through the company’s local website at starlink.com.vn for a residential service plan starting at 1.13 million dong ($43) per month. The rollout marks Vietnam as the sixth Southeast Asian market to host the satellite broadband network, placing it alongside Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and East Timor.
Online orders require no long-term contract and include a 30-day trial period, with equipment slated for delivery within one to two weeks according to the report. Corporate clients face a higher baseline, with minimum monthly subscriptions starting at 1.48 million dong, while business data plans scale based on usage.
Regulatory Framework and Local Infrastructure
The commercial debut follows a deliberate regulatory path overseen by national authorities. Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology licensed Starlink in February, after the government announced in March 2025 that it would permit SpaceX to launch operations on a trial basis while waiving foreign ownership restrictions.
To support the network, authorities have authorized four ground gateway stations across the country. Operations are managed locally by Starlink Services Vietnam, which was established in September 2025 with charter capital of 30 billion dong ($1.1 million).
Hardware Costs and Subscriber Caps
Getting connected requires an upfront investment in user terminals. Households must purchase hardware separately at a cost of 8.65 million dong, plus hardware costs of 8.65 million dong for the necessary dish and router equipment.

Growth during this initial rollout will remain strictly bounded. Regulatory authorities have capped the number of subscribers at 600,000 during the trial period, which runs through the end of 2030.
Targeting Remote Connectivity Challenges
The low-Earth orbit satellite system is designed to bridge connectivity gaps in regions where traditional infrastructure falls short. The service provides broadband connectivity at sea, in the air and in remote or sparsely populated areas where fixed-line and mobile networks are difficult to access.
