After many ordeals, SpaceX’s Starship It finally made its first launch earlier this month. The performance of the test flight is not ideal but it is expected, but the consequences of the disintegration of the rocket in the air now seem to take a long time to process.According to the Texas Division of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Servicestatement, SpaceX detonated the Starship to produce debris that was blasted hundreds of meters away. This sparked a fire covering 14,000 square meters in Boca Chica State Park. Fortunately, the fire has been extinguished, and no signs of wildlife deaths have been found so far.
Nonetheless, the agency will work with the FAA to assess the site and make recommendations to ensure SpaceX complies with the Endangered Species Act. Starship will be temporarily grounded, and whether it can go back to flight depends on whether the FAA concludes that “any system, execution process, or procedure related to the accident did not affect public safety.”
