Streamer El Komanche found dead in Monterrey

Carlos Mauricio Gómez, el streamer salvadoreño conocido como El Komanche, fue reportado como fallecido este domingo en una vivienda de Monterrey, Nuevo León, según Infobae. Neighbors noticed the front door on Paseo de Niza in the Paseo de Cumbres neighborhood left wide open since the previous day, prompting them to alert the property owners, who discovered the body.

An Open Door and an Unconfirmed Scene in Monterrey

Authorities in Nuevo León have not yet released an official statement confirming the identity of the man found inside the residence or establishing a definitive cause of death. Local media notes that investigators found no visible signs of trauma at the scene.

Byron Reyes, identified as a chief executive officer and manager of content creators in El Salvador, shared via Instagram stories that the streamer’s family had confirmed his passing. Reyes added the public statement that online harassment carries severe real-world consequences.

Just days before the discovery, the creator’s official account on X published a stark message on October 19 that quickly accumulated over two million views following news of his death: “Los días simplemente no mejoran.”

A Public Chronicle of Five Diagnoses and Three Crises

Long before his passing, El Komanche used his platform to speak candidly about severe psychological battles, detailing five distinct mental health diagnoses and multiple suicide attempts. In March 2023, during an interview with content creator Tio Shur, he revealed that he had survived three suicide attempts, each resulting in psychiatric hospitalizations.

He recounted that a psychiatrist formally diagnosed him with depression and bipolar disorder in 2014, though medical professionals indicated the underlying symptoms originated when he was just nine years old. By October 2023, he uploaded a YouTube video opening with the declaration, “Me llamo Carlos y hace un mes intenté suicidarme.” In that recording, he disclosed an accumulated total of five psychiatric conditions: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and schizophrenia.

Reflecting on his trajectory, he admitted that achieving financial stability through streaming led him to stop his psychiatric treatment prematurely. A convergence of professional setbacks, a severe thrombosis diagnosis, and a relentless online hate campaign in 2022 pushed him toward a breaking point.

That crisis culminated during a trip to Europe, specifically in Ibiza and Madrid, where a lost passport and robbery triggered a severe mental health episode. He returned to El Salvador to spend a month isolated at his parents’ home, later acknowledging that his public controversies often stemmed from unchecked mental health impulses.

Twitch Bans, Squid Craft Games, and the Final Exit

El Komanche left a massive footprint in the Hispanic streaming community as a co-organizador of the Squid Craft Games. During a 2024 livestream, he shared that prominent creator AuronPlay personally contacted his father to check on him during his deep depressive episodes, promising him a spot in Squid Craft Games 3 if he focused on his recovery.

Despite his industry prominence, his later months were plagued by controversy. In November 2025, Twitch issued a seven-day ban following an online clash with streamer Pereira, during which El Komanche made remarks classified as racist. By January 2026, he announced his definitive retirement from Twitch on X, writing that certain elements on the platform made it clear he was unwelcome, though he vowed to continue publishing content on YouTube, Kick, and TikTok.

By late September 2026, he faced additional accusations of harassment from fellow creators, which gained significant traction after other major streamers amplified the claims. His final post on October 19 remained the last public transmission before his death in Monterrey.
