Le Rugby World Cup hit by a strike. One month before the opening of the Rugby World Cup in France, the FO-RATP union has filed a strike notice covering the entire competition. They are demanding better bonuses for station agents who will be required to be mobilized on match nights. The World Cup is due to open on September 8 and be played until October 28. The notice was filed this Friday, August 4. On Monday, the Minister Delegate for Transport said he wanted to avoid the social movement and called for “responsibility”.

The Multimodal Services and Spaces (SEM) department, made up of employees who are behind the counters in metro or RER stations to sell or provide information, believe they have been harmed in negotiations with management, according to a leaflet from the FO-RATP union, as reported Le Figaro Friday.

While metro and RER drivers will benefit from a bonus of 330 euros for all, as well as several “per act” bonuses, nine out of 10 station agents will not receive anything according to the union, the only one to have filed notice. FO-RATP (30.64%) is the second largest union in all categories at RATP behind CGT (35.28%).

Nearly two million tickets have been sold for the 48 matches of the competition, 10 of which will take place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

“All the agents of the stations and stations of the entire network, as well as their managers, will all have to bear the burden of this population which will circulate”, writes the union in a leaflet. Management has planned to grant an “exceptional events” bonus of 17.64 euros per day for those working around the Place de la Concorde fan zone and 22.05 euros for those assigned to the Stade de France. A “gratification” of 200 euros is provided for agents who have worked throughout the period with “at least five vacations on the disposal of the Stade de France and the fan zone”.

Beaune “believes in social dialogue and responsibility”

FO-RATP deplores the refusal of management to extend these bonuses to all agents, unlike metro and RER drivers. Jean-Christophe Delprat, FO federal secretary in charge of the RATP, says he is ready to “engage in a balance of power”. “It will be a trial run compared to the Olympic Games”, he added, while negotiations are to be held in the fall to discuss the bonuses to be granted to employees during the Olympics so that they shift their vacation.

Monday, August 7, the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune spoke on this subject. “I spoke to Jean Castex again, [au début du mois d’août], there is an ongoing discussion that will resume at the end of August. I believe in social dialogue and responsibility. We still have time to avoid what would be incomprehensible to the whole world, ”he judged with our colleagues from RMC. “We need things to go as well as possible. […]. You have to have a collective sense of responsibility,” he also said.

For its part, the RATP does not say it is worried about the smooth running of the competition and ensures that it is used to managing such an event. “Discussions are continuing,” she told Agence France-Presse on Friday.

During the two months of the World Cup, ten matches will take place at the Stade de France, including the opening match between France and New Zealand and the final. Lines 13 and 12 of the metro serve the stadium on the RATP side, the RER B and D, much more used, being operated by the SNCF.
