Shanghai,China – The Final Jury of the “Shining Shanghai” (Jing’an) 2025 International Light Art Open Call concluded on September 17th at Guang Er Warehouse,in Shanghai’s Jing’an District. The competition, a cornerstone of the city’s burgeoning arts scene, has recognized remarkable talent in the field of light art, setting the stage for a dazzling display of creativity.

Celebrating Artistic Innovation: The 2025 Winners

After careful deliberation, the jury selected Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners from a highly competitive pool of 20 finalists. These winning creations, along with the other shortlisted works, will be projected onto the façade of Shenyuli in Suhewan from September 29th to October 8th, offering a breathtaking public exhibition.

this year’s theme, “Luminescent Roots: Stories of Home”, prompted artists to explore the connection between local identity and the expressive power of light. A total of 154 submissions were received from 145 artists and teams representing 32 countries and regions across six continents. Notably, more than half of the participants had previously been recognized at leading international light festivals, including events in Tokyo, Romania, and Berlin.

The 2025 Jury Panel, led by Chairman Teng Junjie, included a diverse group of artists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. Key members included Jin Jiangbo, Gill Minervini, and Tang Hao, with additional expertise provided by Joshua Bernard, Mikaël Frascadore, Wang Zhijie, Xiao Hui Wang, and Tango. Chairman Teng Junjie emphasized the event’s importance, stating that it strengthens the integration of Art, Technology, and the City, and expands shanghai’s global connections. tang Hao, CEO of SMG Motion Magic, highlighted the evolution of Shining Shanghai from a small-scale initiative to a globally recognized event, embracing technologies like Ultra HD, VR, and AR to push artistic boundaries.

Gill Minervini, former Festival Director of Vivid Sydney, expressed her enthusiasm for the “Stories of Home” theme, noting its worldwide resonance and anticipating the diverse interpretations presented by the artists. The jury officially announced the winners during a press conference held following the evaluation process.
