On Tuesday, shortly after 6 p.m., the federal police communicated on their social networks that the suspect of a rape committed against a young woman in Herstal had been identified. At the same time, the police thanked all those who had enabled the identification of the suspect in just a few hours. Indeed, on Tuesday, a little earlier in the day, at the request of the Liège public prosecutor’s office, a call for witnesses was launched by the investigators.
The facts were not recent since they already dated back to November 6, 2018, between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. We do not know the reasons which pushed, a little less than five years after this villainous attack, the Liège sleuths to seek help from the media in order to possibly identify a suspect. The fact remains that in just a few hours, positive responses arrived and the man sought in connection with this rape was able to be identified.
At the time of writing, nothing was known about his version of the facts.
The victim was waiting for the bus
During the evening of November 6, 2018, the victim was waiting for the bus to go home. The suspect, whom she had met on social networks, then offered to take her home by car, just to save time. Near Herstal, the perpetrator then locked the vehicle doors and assaulted the young woman.
The suspect in this rape could be named Mohammed. He is between 25 and 30 years old and has dark hair. He is approximately 1m80 tall and has a slim build.
