Sleep is influenced by several hormones: cortisol, adrenaline, progesterone, estrogen, leptin, insulin, melatonin, thyroid hormones and pituitary growth hormone – somatotropic hormone, or, as it is also called, “growth hormone”.
With insufficient production of growth hormone, sleep becomes superficial, and recovery is of poor quality and insufficient. And all because STH together with melatonin support the phases of deep sleep.
When the cause of hormonal failure is the incorrect functioning of the adrenal glands – hyperfunction or tumors, then the level of cortisol and adrenaline rises sharply in the blood. They affect the nervous system too exciting and prevent sleep.

The specialist also warned that the consequences of chronic lack of sleep can be much more serious than banal fatigue. Those people who suffer from insomnia for a long time, face a drop in immunity, exacerbation or debut of chronic diseases, are more likely to suffer from anxiety disorders.
