The Ministry of Defense of Taiwan has reported the entry of at least 30 Chinese planes into its air defense zone, the latest episode in a series of flights that began a few years ago and that the Taiwanese authorities denounce as a measure of pressure from Beijing to claim its sovereignty over the territory.
The Ministry has confirmed that this latest incursion several Chinese aircraft have entered the southwest, among which are at least six ‘J-16’ fighters, eight ‘J-11’, four ‘J-10’, as well as two planes. ‘KJ-500’ and two ‘Su-35’, among others.
As on so many other occasions, the Taiwanese Army has entered a state of alert to respond to the incursion and warn the Chinese aircraft to leave the area immediately, as indicated in a statement by the Ministry of Defense.
Taiwan has warned on numerous occasions of Chinese military activities in its vicinity, especially the numerous incursions by Air Force planes, episodes that have been repeated in recent months and that the Island Government understands as a pressure maneuver sovereignist by Beijing.
This is the largest incursion into Taiwanese airspace by Beijing since January 23, when 39 planes entered the Taiwanese air defense zone, followed by May 21, when there were at least 14, according to the report. news portal ‘Taipei News’.
Relations between Beijing and Taipei were suspended in 1949, after the forces of the Chinese nationalist Kuomintang party, led by Chiang Kai Shek, suffered a defeat in the civil war against the Communist Party of China and moved to the island of Taiwan.
