Takeda, new green headquarters and another 30 million in investments

Takeda, the first Japanese pharmaceutical company by turnover, eleventh in the global ranking and among the 100 most sustainable companies in the world, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new headquarters in Rome (in viale Manzoni 30), announces a further investment of 30 million euros for the production sites in Pisa and Rieti.

The Rieti factory fully approved for export to the main world markets already contributes today to over 70% exports of the entire manufacturing sector of the province. «The Takeda industrial center – commented Francesca Micheli, general manager of Takeda Manufacturing – is one of the most important biotech production companies in the country, leader in plasma processing. We have confidence in the future of the Italian pharmaceutical sector and we will continue to invest in Italy to increase production and optimize the availability of drugs.”

The investment plan for the period 2020-2025 thus rises to 350 million eurosconfirming Takeda’s commitment to growth in the area and synergies with the healthcare system.

«Of the new allocation of 30 million euros, 10 million are aimed at digitalization and advanced industrial automation – announced Anna Maria Bencini, general manager of Takeda Italia – The new systems will revolutionize production processes, increasing their efficiency and improving worker safety . Twenty million euros are, however, dedicated to environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability initiatives, with new technologies aimed at reducing CO2 emissions by 40% by 2025taking one step closer to the ultimate goal of becoming a net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emission company by 2035.”
