Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima: dam reservoirs in deficit of 306 million m3 compared to 2021

The reserves of the large dams in the region reach 744.48 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of about 43.23% of the capacity of the dams, which stands at 1,721 million m3, indicates a report by the General Directorate of Water, under the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

The reserves of the dams in the region had reached, on August 12 of the previous year, approximately 1,050.8 million m3, that is to say a filling rate which exceeds 61.03%.

In the Loukkos area, the reservoirs of the Oued El Makhazine dam (Larache province), the largest dam in the region, reached 363.6 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of about 54%, against 530 .4 million m3 during the same period a year earlier (78.8%), while the reservoirs of the Dar Khrofa dam stood at 140.6 million m3 (29.3%).

Regarding the reservoirs of the April 9 dam (Tangier-Assilah prefecture), they amounted to 40 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of 13.3%, while this rate reached, at the level of the Ibn Battouta dam, 15 .7% (4.6 million m3).

In the province of Tetouan, the Acharif Al Idrissi dam reached a filling rate of 86.1% (104.7 million m3), while the Nakhla and Smir dams recorded respective filling rates of 70 .7% (2.98 million m3), and 88.9% (34.6 million m3).

As for the filling rate of the Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mahdi dam, located in the province of Fahs-Anjra, it stood at 69.9% (16.4 million m3), while the Tangier dam Mediterranean reached a rate of 95.5% (21 million m3).

Reserves at the Chefchaouen dam stood at 11.3 million m3 (92.4%), while reservoirs reached 4.1 million m3 for the Abdelkrim El Khattabi dam, located in the province of Al Hoceima (34.8%), and 0.6 million m3 (10.7%) in the Jomoua dam.

It should be noted that faced with the situation of water stress experienced by the Kingdom, the Ministry of Equipment and Water has launched a communication campaign, which is spread over two months, to raise awareness among all citizens. the need to fight against water wastage and promote responsible consumption of water resources.
