The news of the death of Hawkins (Fort Worth, Texas), which he had turned 50 on February 17was released just an hour before they went on stage.

Taylor Hawkins: a charismatic figure

Hawkins was one of the visible figures in the band alongside former Nirvana Dave Grohl. At concerts he used to leave the drums to sing rock classics like Under Pressure, by Queen and David Bowie, or Rock n’ roll, by Led Zeppelin.

He grew up in Laguna Beach (California), where he began studying conservatory music and although his specialty was drums he also played piano and guitar.

Among the artists who inspired his career were Stewart Copeland de The Police, y Roger Taylor de Queen.

Hawkins provided percussion on some of the group’s biggest hits, como “Learn to fly” y “Best of you”. She previously played drums for Canadian indie singer Alanis Morissette.

The Foo Fighters celebrated their 25th anniversary last year, and most recently produced “Studio 666”, a rock and roll horror movie.
