For example, the results of the monthly public opinion poll conducted by the company iData show the mood in Moldova. According to them, currently only 31.8% of the country’s population believe that everything is fine in Moldova and that the country is moving in the right direction, while 57.6% of the respondents have the opposite opinion. 52.2 percent of the population would be ready to vote for Moldova’s membership in the European Union (EU) this February, while 39.4 percent of the country’s population would be against it. On the other hand, 60.6 percent would be against Moldova’s unification with Romania, while 30.7% of Moldovans would support it.
Separately, it is worth mentioning that the foreign politician with the highest “unequivocally positive” rating in Moldova is Russian President Vladimir Putin. 21.8 percent of the country’s population assessed his activity in this way, 7.9 percent simply positively, and neutrally – 10.1 percent of the country’s population. It is true that the Russian president also has one of the highest negative ratings in Moldova: 46 percent perceive him unequivocally negatively, while another 8.2 percent of respondents perceive him negatively. For comparison, US President Joe Biden is viewed positively by 6.7 percent, and positively by 9% of Moldovans. In addition, Biden’s negative rating is even higher than that of Putin, that is, 49 percent of the country’s population perceive him negatively, while 10.1 percent of the country’s population perceive him negatively.
It should be added that more than half of Moldovans have a unequivocally negative or negative assessment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, but in general (with the smallest difference between positive and negative assessments) the most positive foreign politician in their eyes is Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, followed by the French President Emmanuel Macron.
